Wednesday!
A glorious day! We still have a handful absent - I am coughing a bit - did anyone escape this cold?
We had more discussion about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln - ask them what they know!
Such a wonderful class.....
Let me know if you have questions about 100 day homework!

Tuesday!
Hello! It's another wet, muddy day! Please send in shoes for the weather. We do go outside no matter what the weather is, unless it is REALLY pouring - we are out there! Coats that zip with hoods are what we need also! It's the PACIFIC NORTHWEST.....we love it!!!
NEW SHOES!!!
We are practicing counting by tens, counting to 100, starting our letters from the top, putting spaces between our words, drawing illustrations with details, using periods, being good listeners, being kind friends.......so much to do in our day! This class continues to amaze all of us who are lucky enough to be in contact with them!
We read books and talked about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. We had a great discussion about the changes Lincoln worked on for our country with the emancipation of the slaves....deep. Our favorite book for today was "Art & Max".

Valentine's Day!!!
Happy Valentine's Day!!!! It was a whole lotta fun watching these wonderful kindergartners walk in, mostly wearing red, anxious to mail their valentines into each others boxes - very cute!
Thought it would be fun to take a look at the tangrams after those cute valentine mailboxes!
Thanks to Clark's mom, and Sky's mom we had a sweet little celebration this morning!

Friday!
Yikes.....it has been such a busy week!
We continue to collect red jam (such a sweet idea!) for Helpline. I will take it in on Valentine's day, Monday.
We had our reading buddies in this afternoon to work on our Valentine mailboxes. I am VERY thankful to Logan's dad who came in for a lunch date but ended up able to stay to help with the mayhem!!!!

Thursday!
A beautiful, sunny day and almost everyone made it to school today!
After dancing to some reggae music, we used our best writing skills to make a page in a book for Johnathon who has moved. We let him know we will miss him!
This week for our literacy jobs we have been working on finding a list of sight words on Valentine cards, making a mini-book, writing "I Like" sentences, listening to "How Do Dinosaurs Say I Love You" in our listening center, and reading in our Guided Reading groups.
We "spit-spotted" our classroom to get it ready to welcome preschoolers for a visit. Our kindergartner experts shared what they liked best about kindergarten, we did a read-aloud, "Move Over Rover", sang a song and them hung out in the designated area of our expertise and played with the preschoolers. These kindergartners did a great job! They were the perfect advertisement for kindergarten!
Our favorite book of the day was "Buster" by one our favorite authors- Denise Fleming.
R and R was very quiet and very cute.....
