Thursday!

Okay....I actually do enjoy chaos from time-to-time - I do hype up my students and then expect them to come back to reality all ready to be calm, and on task.  I have helped create the mayhem around here!  Well....tomorrow I am going to be a witch for our Halloween Parade and I decided to try out my spell casting techniques while your delightful children were in the gym......

and it worked!

Wild Wednesday!

Mayhem (a word we are using a lot this week) continues as we count down to Halloween!  Thank you to all who have the time to volunteer to help out or send ingredients into the classroom....can't do it without you!  Please call or email if you have any questions about our Halloween day.  We will be eating some sugar but hopefully we will balance it out with some healthier snacks!

We read lots of Halloween books today, went to our last Halloween music class, sang Halloween songs in our room.....

played our musical instruments when words rhymed....

worked on our literacy jobs, learned about "tallies" in math and made jack-o-lanterns or ghosts with glue (we will color them in on Friday)...

and our Reading Buddies came to hang out with us!

Poet Day!

We had the wonderful opportunity to listen to our favorite poet JACK PRELUTSKY today!!!!  Can't tell you how exciting that was!  He sang most of his poems, and oh were they funny - really had those kindergartners cracking up!!!  He started to leave but I stopped and begged (I really was begging quite shamelessly) him to read our favorite poem "The Radish Shark", and he did!  We also loved that he stopped by our classroom a couple of times throughout the morning just to chat!  A big thank you to our amazing librarian, Kathleen Pool, for making this happen!

Another wonderful day at Blakely School!
