Stormy Monday!

Stormy day - we are having our "What if the power goes off" talk just in case!  It has flickered a few times...

We read many wonderful books today!  Our favorites were "Frank was a Monster who wanted to Dance" (gross AND funny - right up these kindergartner's alley!),  "Haunted Party", and "Mostly Monsterly".

Some of our literacy activities this week are writing fun Halloween words, make an elephant book and listening to "Skeleton Meets the Mummy".  As good readers the kindergartners are learning to use the title and the cover to help them predict what words might be in the text.

For math we had fun lining up in order of our bug number cards.  We practiced counting by 1's, instant recognition of quantities to 5, recognizing 1 more, seeing quantities in relationship to 5 and to 10, and matching sets and numerals.

For science we read the book "Leaves in Fall" and then compared the shapes of leaves and played a Leaf Silhouette game.

Oh, and the best....we got to do another day of Halloween Gym!!!  The pictures do not do it justice - it is REALLY dark and scary in there!

It was a very fun day!

Love the pix of the spooky gym! Always wondered what it looked like, as we hear so much about it :)
