Monday finally!

Your kids are finally back....I missed them!  Our day flew by....and fun was had by all!  Here are some of the things your children are learning....

In writing we discussed directionality - that when we write, we start on the left side of the paper and move to the right.  We put a green piece of paper on the left front wall and a red piece of paper of the right side of the wall to remind us to start on the left!  We also talked about book illustrations and how the picture on the cover of the book helps us to know what the book will be about.  We discussed how authors use illustrations to help tell stories.  The kindergartners then went to their desks to write in their journals - using pictures to tell a story.  We are excited about those journals!

Our favorite book for today was "Splat the Cat".  We are focusing on the letter "S" this week.  Of course we work on all of the letters all of the time throughout the year but it is fun to have a theme for some of our books and literacy jobs!  Friday will be "Silly Sock" day....
