Wednesday!

Our literacy activities were some of the best parts of the day.  We continued to discuss how good readers can use a book's title and picture - using them to help us predict what a book is about.  We practiced asking questions  while we were reading a book.  We read many more monster books today...our favorite: "Goodnight Little Monster".

In math we continued our work with patterns - discovering, copying and extending them.  For snack we like to make "Chicken Soup" (dumping a variety of crackers, and pretzels together).  This helps us to have lots of choices to make patterns with on our snack mats.  I am seeing many ABABAB patterns, ABCABCABC patterns and even AABBAABB patterns.  Ask your very smart mathematician kindergartner what I am talking about!  Click here to print out a fun bug pattern worksheet to do at home!

Thank you for sending snack.  We use it the same day or stick it in the closet if we need to use up something else from the day before.  It is nice to a have a "full larder"!  If we don't get it out of the backpack please keep sending it back with an email to let me know I need to help your child remember - sorry if it takes more than one reminder!

Our Halloween party is coming up on Friday, October 29th.  There are many ways to help out....be watching for an email from Patrick's mother Dinah!  Volunteering in the morning, volunteering in the afternoon for getting into costumes, walking in the parade, serving food, sending in paper products, healthy food and sugar cookies or cupcakes and all of the stuff that goes on top.....
